Open Finder on your Macbook and scroll to Locations in the sidebar, then click on your iPod. Sigh.Īnyway, I appreciate you trying to help, and let me know if you've got any other ideas. I found a way to load a version of iTunes onto my MacBook, which got me all excited, because it does indeed work, but the same issues still apply as with Music, so that did me no good whatsoever. They don't even exist on my iPod according to my computer, but when I disconnect my iPod and look at it directly, the playlists are there, including new ones I just added. I can add playlists to my iPod, but good luck finding them on my computer to either change them or delete them. And all of that used to be so easy on iTunes. I did find a way through music to at least make it semi less tedious, because rather than finder, but through music itself, I can get the albums listed alphabetically, but it's still super tedious because I can't get all the Dylan albums or Thelonious Monk albums or Muddy Waters albums all grouped together and then scroll and decide which ones to keep and which ones to delete. Rather than click on 1 single "album" and click delete, I'd have to search out each and every song off of an individual album, which would take hours, because certain songs I've got 20, 30, or even 50 or more versions of, so finding out the right version to delete is super tedious.

But if I've got 150g worth of songs and I want to scroll through all 173 Dylan albums I've got (not just regular albums, but live recordings too) then there's no way I can figure out how to got to "Dylan" and then scroll though everything I've got, then click on his concert and delete all 20 of those songs I never listen to anymore. Unfortunately that way it just lists all the songs, not grouped together in any meaningful way, at least as far as I can tell. Thanks!Īppreciate the help, but unfortunately I'd already figured out how to delete an individual song. I drag the iTunes icon to the box, and there it is, checked and everything, but maybe there's one last something to do next? But the message just keeps saying "drag to box" or whatever.

After the whole "enable full disk access" part of the steps, there doesn't seem to be anything else to click, I'm just left hanging wondering if there's a final step or something.

Anyway, was SOOOOO excited when I heard about Retroactive, but so far it seems to be no help whatsoever. Though I've learned how to use Music to add things to my iPod, I haven't found a way to actually look at the contents of the iPod in any organized manner other than on the iPod itself, but can't select and delete albums that way. I've got an almost full 7th gen iPod classic, and I'd really like to be able to scroll through it's contents and delete what I don't want. Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings" and so I've done exactly what it says, make sure I have the most recent Retroactive (1.9 right?) and then gone through the steps for "enabling full disk access" and I've repeated those steps over and over again. And just as issues 29 and 35 (did I get those numbers right?) say, one of the problems may be a message saying ""iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. I've read the entire internet in search of an answer (slight exaggeration) and after making sure to use the very newest version of Retroactive to get iTunes on my 2020 MacBook Air (macOS Catalina).
